Michigan Officials Charged in Cannabis Bribery Scheme

Former Michigan House speaker, Rick Johnson, has been charged with accepting bribes worth over $110,000 in exchange for supporting companies seeking medical marijuana licenses. Johnson, along with three other defendants, has signed a plea deal admitting guilt to the charges. The investigation, which started in 2017, was spearheaded by the FBI. Johnson faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000, while the other defendants face a maximum of five years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
