Nephew fatally shoots uncle, then kills himself in Abington Township home

A 28-year-old nephew, Brandon Maurer, shot and killed his uncle, William "Billy" Maurer, around 11 a.m. on June 28 at a home on Spruce Avenue in the Glenside area of Abington Township, then died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The uncle was pronounced dead at the scene; the nephew died later at the hospital. No other family members were injured. Investigators from Montgomery County Detectives and Abington Township Police Department say the incident is a murder-suicide, and the firearm was recovered at the scene.
