Omaha Police Officers and Councilman Face Federal Charges in Gang-Related Drug Investigation.

Federal prosecutors allege that a former Omaha police officer, Johnny Palermo, was involved in drug trafficking with two Omaha gangs. Palermo, along with former Omaha police Capt. Rich Gonzalez, Omaha City Council member Vinny Palermo, and Jack Olson, face multiple counts of wire fraud, conspiracy, and abusing the public trust. Palermo is also accused of impeding a sexual assault investigation, filing a false application for a federal loan, and using that money to send himself, his family, and friends to Hawaii. Palermo pleaded not guilty to the charges.
