Potterville Man Charged with Cyberstalking Elected Leaders in Lansing Area

A man in Lansing, Michigan, has been charged with 10 felonies after allegedly sending over 1,000 harassing text messages to public officials, private citizens, and previous employees. The accused, Michael Doherty, had previously lost two multi-million businesses and faced a $12-million civil judgment. The messages were described as harassing and disturbing but not threatening. Doherty has been charged with aggravated stalking and using a computer to commit a crime. He has been ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation and have no contact with the alleged victims. A hearing to determine whether he should stand trial is scheduled for November 9th.
