Ride-share passenger arrested for stabbing driver in NYC robbery attempt

A livery driver was stabbed during an attempted carjacking on the FDR Drive in Manhattan. The suspect, Ismael English, allegedly tried to carjack the driver while riding as a passenger in a black Tesla. When the driver refused, English stabbed him three times, causing the car to crash. English then attempted to carjack other motorists before jumping off an overpass onto a bike path. He suffered broken legs and was taken into custody. The driver is in critical but stable condition. English is facing charges of attempted murder, attempted robbery, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon. The motive for the incident remains unclear.
