Suspect Charged with Kidnapping After Body Found Near Amana Lily Lake

Iowa County officials have identified the body found near Amana Lily Lake as 20-year-old Melody Hoffman, and have charged 23-year-old McKinley Louisma with kidnapping in connection to the case. The Iowa State Medical Examiner's preliminary opinion is that Hoffman died by strangulation and had numerous stab wounds. Louisma allegedly picked up Hoffman, bound her, and drove her to different locations before leaving her at the pond where her body was found. He faces charges including kidnapping and conspiracy to commit forcible felony, and was arraigned in court on Tuesday.
