Suspect in Warm Springs officer shooting dies after SC arrest

A man accused of killing Warm Springs police Officer Chris Fisher during a midnight shooting in Meriwether County was captured in South Carolina after a large manhunt; he sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound at arrest and later died. Gov. Brian Kemp mourned the loss as Fisher’s death marks the fourth Georgia officer to die in the line of duty this year. Steverson had prior felony charges, and authorities issued a BOLO in SC before his capture.
