Teen Charged as Adult for Killing Michigan Election Canvasser

A 15-year-old has been charged as an adult with murder in the shooting death of a Michigan election canvasser, Theodore Lawson, whom he allegedly asked for a dollar before shooting. The incident does not appear to be politically motivated. Two other teens, aged 15 and 17, were also involved. The 15-year-old charged with murder faces additional gun charges, and a probable cause conference has been scheduled for October 20. Lansing Police Chief Ellery Sosebee described the murder as "senseless" and highlighted the lack of accountability among some youthful offenders. The decision to charge the teen as an adult was based on the nature of the offense and his previous interactions with the court system.
