Theft Suspect Fatally Struck; Two Officers Wounded in Central SF Incident

San Francisco police responding to a Trader Joe’s theft chased a suspect who resisted and fled; all three were struck by a vehicle, with one officer pinned beneath it. Firefighters freed the officer and all three were hospitalized; the theft suspect died from injuries, while the two officers have non-life-threatening injuries. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating; the investigation is active.
