Tragic Kidnapping and Murder of 2-Year-Old Wynter Cole Smith Shocks Michigan Communities

A Michigan man, Rashad Trice, has been charged with kidnapping and killing his ex-girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter, Wynter Cole Smith. The incident allegedly stemmed from a violent altercation over money between Trice and his ex-girlfriend. Trice is accused of stabbing and sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend before fleeing with Wynter. After a dayslong search, Wynter's body was found in a Detroit alley with markings consistent with strangulation. Trice now faces both state and federal charges, including kidnapping resulting in death, which carries a mandatory life sentence if convicted.
