Uber Driver Fatally Shot by Passenger Who Mistakenly Thought She Was Being Kidnapped

A woman has been charged with murder after shooting her Uber driver, Daniel Piedra Garcia, whom she believed was kidnapping her. Phoebe Copas shot Piedra during a trip to meet her boyfriend at a casino, but there was no evidence of kidnapping. Piedra was taken off life support this week after being shot on June 16. Copas is being held on a $1.5 million bond and is accused of texting her boyfriend an image of the wounded Garcia before calling the police. Uber said it was horrified by the incident and would assist the investigation in any way possible.
