Weekend Violence in Indianapolis Leaves 24 Shot, Including Children

Indianapolis experienced a violent weekend with at least 18 shootings and 23 people injured, including four children. The city's homicide total for 2023 has reached at least 100 people killed, with 84 of them being criminal homicides. Many of the shootings remain under investigation, but detectives believe several occurred during disagreements or fights, while another may be connected to road rage. The police chief encouraged firearm owners to keep their weapons locked and separate from ammunition to prevent children from accidentally hurting themselves. Accidental shootings have increased significantly in Indianapolis in the past year.
