Wisconsin beagle facility protest escalates as police deploy rubber bullets and pepper spray

About 1,000 animal-welfare activists attempted to seize beagles from Ridglan Farms in Blue Mounds, Wis., but police repelled them with rubber bullets, pepper spray and tear gas, arresting many including the group’s leader Wayne Hsiung; after hours, no dogs had been seized, continuing a recent campaign that saw 30 beagles taken in March and plans for another attempt. Ridglan denies animal abuse and had previously agreed to surrender its state breeding license as part of a settlement.
