DOE Opens Civil Rights Probe Into SLU School of Medicine Admissions

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights has launched a Title VI investigation into Saint Louis University School of Medicine for alleged racial discrimination in admissions, alongside four other medical schools (Dartmouth Geisel, East Carolina University Brody, Western University of Health Sciences, and William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine) to determine potential Civil Rights Act violations. The probes are being conducted jointly with the Health and Human Services OCR and the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, part of a broader federal effort to increase oversight of diversity, equity, and inclusion in education programs after 2025 executive orders. SLU had not yet commented at publication time.
