Louisiana Refinery Fires Prompt Evacuations and Shelter-in-Place Orders

A shelter-in-place has been issued for a 3-mile radius around Calcasieu Refining due to a crude oil tank fire caused by a lightning strike. A mandatory evacuation has been issued for a 1.5-mile radius of the refinery, including the Graywood subdivision. The fire is expected to be put out by 2 a.m. on Sunday, June 4. The Burton Coliseum is open as a shelter for those forced to evacuate or in the area of the shelter-in-place.
