California Mandates 50% Electric Heavy Truck Sales by 2035

California has been granted the legal authority to require that half of all heavy-duty truck sales in the state be fully electric by 2035, an ambitious standard that will go beyond federal requirements. The state's Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation aims to put 300,000 zero-emission trucks on the road by 2035 and will curb climate pollution by nearly three million metric tons each year by 2040. The approval of the new rule will likely have greater impacts beyond California and pave the way for other states to follow suit.
