East Coast Air Quality Worsens Due to Canada Wildfires

Air quality alerts are in effect in Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley due to hazardous smoke from Canadian wildfires. A Code Red Air Quality Alert is in effect for southeast Pennsylvania and Delaware, while New Jersey is under a Code Orange. The US Air Quality Index has Philadelphia with some of the worst air quality in the world. Health officials warn residents to avoid outdoor activities and pay attention to their bodies. The smoky conditions may improve over the next several days, but the smoke could linger for a few days. Schools and outdoor events have been canceled or postponed. Canadian officials have asked for additional help fighting more than 400 blazes nationwide.
