Smoke from Canadian wildfires has caused air quality issues in Michigan, with the state's Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy declaring an action day due to elevated levels of fine particulate. The National Weather Service has warned people, especially those with vulnerable lungs, to limit outdoor activities until Wednesday. The fires in Canada have burned over 76,000 square kilometers of forest and other land since January 1, with 490 fires currently burning across the country, 255 of which are out of control.
