Texas Woman Escapes State's Abortion Ban, Seeks Procedure Elsewhere

A pregnant woman in Texas, Kate Cox, who was denied an abortion by the state Supreme Court after doctors confirmed her fetus has a deadly genetic condition, has left the state to undergo the procedure. Cox, who is in her 21st week of pregnancy, was diagnosed with trisomy 18, a fatal disorder. The Center for Reproductive Rights, representing Cox in a lawsuit challenging Texas abortion bans, argued that continuing the pregnancy puts her life and future fertility at risk.
