An 8-year-old boy who went missing for two days in the remote Michigan wilderness was found alive after surviving by eating snow and hiding beneath a log. Nante Niemi disappeared while gathering firewood for his family at the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park campground. He walked an entire trail until he was led to a dead end, where he found shelter beneath a log and used branches and leaves for warmth. Despite temperatures dropping to the 40s, Nante was found in good health and preferred to walk back to his family rather than be carried out.
