Activists Protest US Officials as UN Human Rights Review Concludes

Activists representing LGBTQ, indigenous, and reproductive rights, as well as those fighting against discrimination, staged a silent protest during the United Nations-backed human rights review of the United States. The protesters expressed their dissatisfaction with what they perceive as insufficient responses from the U.S. government regarding their human rights concerns. The protest took place as U.S. Ambassador Michele Taylor concluded a two-day hearing before the independent Human Rights Committee. The United States, along with six other countries, is undergoing a review of its adherence to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Activists from various groups traveled to Geneva for the first review of U.S. compliance in nine years.
