Gulf Disturbances Raise Early Hurricane Risk as Dolly’s Remnants Linger

The National Hurricane Center raised development odds for two Gulf disturbances: Dolly’s remnants, now a tropical wave moving toward Florida with a 20% chance to redevelop in 7 days, and a northern Gulf low with up to a 50% chance to become a short‑lived tropical depression or storm in 2–7 days. Regardless of formation, the systems could bring heavy rainfall to the Leeward Islands and portions of the Florida/Gulf region, including the upper Texas and southwestern Louisiana coasts, while NOAA’s seasonal forecast calls for 7–13 named storms this year.
