Dormant alien-terrorist court activated to deport ISIS-linked matriarch

The Trump-era DOJ activated the long-dormant Alien Terrorist Removal Court to pursue the deportation of Nazira Haji Zada, a 47-year-old lawful permanent resident whose case rests on allegations that she pledged loyalty to ISIS and helped radicalize her children amid a 2024 ISIS plot by her son and son-in-law. The government argues traditional immigration courts wouldn’t suffice, and an initial status hearing is set in Washington, D.C. The court, created in 1996 but never used, will hear the multi-phase case as most evidence remains classified; Haji Zada has no U.S. criminal history and her husband previously worked for the U.S. government without knowledge of the alleged plans.
