Texas Sends 12th Busload of Migrants to Los Angeles

A bus carrying migrants from seven countries arrived in downtown Los Angeles, marking the 12th transfer from Texas since mid-June. The city activated its response plan to connect the new arrivals with services and their relatives or sponsors. Half of the 42 occupants were children, and the families came from various countries. The L.A. City Council is exploring the possibility of suing Texas for busing migrants to the city. The migrants, fleeing violence and threats, plan to stay in Los Angeles or join family and friends in other cities. The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights assists with their asylum process and works on applications for work permits and moving their cases to nearby immigration courts.
