Texas Transfers Migrants to Chicago, Airlifting Over 120 Individuals

Texas Governor Greg Abbott's busing operation, which has transported over 80,000 migrants to Democratic-led cities across the US since last year, escalated as a plane carrying more than 120 migrants from the US-Mexico border arrived in Chicago. This comes after Chicago's city council took action against the busloads of migrants, leading to bus operators attempting to drop off people in neighboring cities to avoid penalties. Abbott's office stated that the flights were a response to Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson's targeting of migrant buses. The flight occurred a day after Abbott signed a new law allowing police in Texas to arrest migrants who illegally cross the border, further intensifying the state's protest against President Joe Biden's immigration policies. The White House criticized Abbott's actions, accusing him of using migrants for political gain. Over 23,000 migrants have been sent to Chicago as part of Abbott's Operation Lone Star.
