China's Military Drills around Taiwan: A Severe Warning to Separatist Forces

The Chinese military conducted drills around Taiwan as a "stern warning" in response to what it perceives as collusion between "separatists and foreign forces" after Taiwan's vice president visited the United States. China claims Taiwan as part of its territory and opposes its foreign relations. The military exercises involved coordination of vessels and planes and were aimed at testing their combat capabilities. Taiwan's defense ministry detected 42 Chinese military aircraft and eight vessels participating in the drills. Taiwan deployed its own forces in response and condemned the provocative moves, asserting its ability to safeguard national security. China's Taiwan Work Office accused Taiwan's ruling party of colluding with the US and described the vice president as a "troublemaker" pushing Taiwan towards war.
