UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak stated that the UK is committed to a convention that discourages the use of cluster bombs, in response to the US decision to supply them to Ukraine. While the UK has banned these weapons, it will continue to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. Spain and human rights groups have criticized the US decision, as cluster munitions can cause indiscriminate harm to civilians. Neither the US, Ukraine, nor Russia are signatories to the international treaty banning cluster munitions. Sunak's comments come ahead of his meeting with US President Joe Biden and a NATO summit.
