Wagner Chief Claims US Citizen Died Fighting in Ukraine

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Russian private military company Wagner, claimed in a video that a US citizen died in the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut. The video shows Prigozhin inspecting a body and what he claims are US identification documents. The authenticity of the documents and the nationality of the body cannot be verified. Prigozhin says they will hand over the body and documents to the US, and the soldier claims the man was returning fire when he died. Wagner frequently posts videos for propaganda purposes, and CNN has reached out to the US State Department for comment.
