Missouri prosecutor urges governor not to pardon ex-KCPD officer convicted of killing.

A Missouri prosecutor has urged Governor Mike Parson not to pardon former Kansas City police detective Eric DeValkenaere, who was sentenced to six years in prison for the fatal shooting of Cameron Lamb in 2019. The prosecutor said that a pardon would "subvert the rule of law" and "ignite distrust, protests, and public safety concerns for citizens and for police." DeValkenaere was convicted of second-degree involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in 2021. The governor's office said that if DeValkenaere applies for a pardon, his application will be treated the same as others.
