
Ex-convict convicted in Park Fire arson that scorched California’s 4th-largest blaze
A Chico man and registered sex offender, Ronnie Dean Stout II, was convicted of malicious arson in connection with the 2024 Park Fire, California’s fourth-largest wildfire, which burned more than 400,000 acres and destroyed 713 structures; the conviction includes enhancements for multiple structures burned and a third strike, and he faces 25 years to life in prison with sentencing set for October 9. No fatalities were reported, but three firefighters were injured; prosecutors said Stout left the scene after pushing a burning car into a park gully while intoxicated.
