"Law enforcement ramps up efforts to combat impaired driving during holiday weekend"

Four vehicles fled from OVI checkpoints conducted by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the Montgomery County Combined Agency OVI Task Force in Ohio. Over 274 cars passed through the checkpoints, resulting in two citations for Driving Under Suspension and two citations for registration violation. Increased patrol and a crackdown on impaired drivers are expected throughout the Miami Valley during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, with the Ohio State Highway Patrol implementing a zero-tolerance policy. Last year, 16 deadly crashes occurred during the same period, with 11 involving alcohol and/or drugs.
