Judge Denies Trump's Motion to Strike Jan. 6 Allegations from Indictment

Judge Tanya Chutkan rejected former President Donald Trump's motion to strike allegations that he helped lead the Jan. 6 attack from the indictment in his federal election interference case. Chutkan stated that the references to the violent attack on the Capitol would not prejudice a jury against Trump and vowed to ensure a fair trial. Separately, Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron denied Trump's request for a mistrial in a civil business fraud case. Chutkan has set a March 4 trial date for the Trump case, while another federal case and a Georgia state election conspiracy case are pending. Trump recently boasted that he wanted to personally go to the Capitol to lead the violent riot by his extremist supporters.
