Judge Rules Against Jail Time for Trump Co-Defendant in Georgia Election Interference Case

A judge in Fulton County, Georgia, declined to revoke the bond of Harrison Floyd, a co-defendant in former President Donald Trump's Georgia election interference case, despite finding that Floyd violated the conditions of his bond by posting tweets tagging witnesses in the case. The judge ruled that not every violation warrants revocation and instead modified the bond conditions to prohibit public comments about witnesses. District Attorney Fani Willis argued for Floyd to be jailed, stating that his tweets amounted to intimidation and violated the bond order. Floyd's attorney argued that the posts did not contain direct threats of violence. Floyd and 17 other defendants pleaded not guilty to charges related to efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.
