Colleton County Clerk of Court Rebecca Hill has denied all allegations of jury tampering made by Alex Murdaugh's defense team, marking her first response to the accusations. The defense had claimed that Hill advised jurors not to believe Murdaugh's testimony, encouraged a quick verdict, engaged in private conversations with the jury foreperson, and denied jurors the opportunity to smoke during deliberations. Prosecutors have criticized Murdaugh for seeking a new trial based on these allegations, stating that his evidence is weak. Hill's lawyers have stated that she has cooperated with the investigation and categorically denied any improper jury tampering.
