Peter Strong, a boat captain from West Melbourne, was killed by a lightning strike while on the Indian River at Pineda Causeway near U.S. 1 in Brevard County. A passenger on the vessel suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The incident is being investigated as a boating accident.
