Venice Tragedy: Newlyweds Die After Water-Taxi Collision
A Brazilian-born couple, Gabriella Querino (26) and Sean Michieli (25), who had just married three months earlier and were expecting their first child, were killed when their boat collided with a five-ton water taxi in the Venetian Lagoon; Querino's body was recovered after searches hampered by currents, Michieli was taken to hospital and pronounced brain-dead. Authorities are investigating the crash as nautical homicide, with the water taxi driver under investigation; the pair had been fishing for bait for Michieli's work as a clam fisherman when the incident occurred.
