Bug Fire 20% Contained as Evacuations Ease Around Reno Area

Crews say the Bug Fire near Cold Springs, northwest of Reno, is now 20% contained after burning about 6,500+ acres. Evacuation orders remain for portions of Cold Springs, Canyon Hills, White Lake, Silver Knolls and areas north of Cold Springs, but neighborhoods off White Lake and Village Parkway have reopened. Northbound U.S. 395 exits at White Lake Pkwy and Village Pkwy are open; some road closures (Red Rock Rd, Lemmon Dr at Ramsey Way) persist. Evacuation centers remain open; no structures have been reported damaged as crews continue containment efforts and map updates.
