Downtown South Bend Fire Forces Cancellation of Stadium Flats Groundbreaking

A massive fire at the Stadium Flats construction site in downtown South Bend forced the cancellation of the apartment project’s groundbreaking and a ribbon-cutting for the nearby Diamond View Apartments. Residents were evacuated from Diamond View due to proximity; no damage to Four Winds Field itself, though the performance center siding and some signage were damaged, and embers caused debris and water damage in surrounding areas. The playoff game on Sept. 10 is still on as scheduled.
