Gann Fire near New Hogan Lake Keeps Calaveras Evacuations In Place

The Gann Fire, which began near Hogan Dam and Gann Roads by New Hogan Lake, has burned at least 2,100 acres with no containment as of 5:52 a.m. and prompted evacuations for zones CCU-147, CCU-139, CCU-110 and CCU-109 (with an advisory for CCU-130). More than 250 personnel, including Firehawk helicopters, are fighting the blaze. A dozer rollover injured a firefighter and a fire engine crash occurred on a blocked road. Evacuation centers are at Jenny Lind Memorial District in Valley Springs; a separate shelter at 300 W Daphne St accommodates animals, and livestock can go to the Calaveras County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp. The Calaveras Unified School District is monitoring air quality and will keep schools open with outdoor activities potentially modified.
