Massachusetts Family Among Five Killed in Virginia Charter Bus Crash

Five Massachusetts residents—Dmitri Doncev, Ecaterina Doncev, and their children Emily Doncev and Mark Doncev, along with Worcester’s Priscilla Mafalda—were killed when a charter bus traveling from New York City to Charlotte failed to slow on Interstate 81 near Lexington, Virginia, and struck Mafalda’s SUV, which then collided with the Doncev family’s Acura and caught fire; 34 others were injured. Bus driver Jing S. Dong, 48, has been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter as investigators continue their work; a GoFundMe has been started to help cover funeral expenses.
