Michigan husband’s job ends weeks before murder-suicide of wife and six children

In Grand Haven Township, Ottawa County, eight people were found dead in a burning home after a murder-suicide in which 47-year-old Kristopher Karolkiewicz killed his wife and six children before taking his own life; authorities say the fire was intentionally set in multiple locations after the killings and the gun used was registered to Kris. Karolkiewicz had recently ended his employment with the American Heart Association, serving as national vice president of sales and marketing, with employment ending in July 2026. The victims, aged 15, 12, 11, 5 (boys) and 11 (girl), include four biological children and two adopted, and two family pets also perished. A GoFundMe has been launched to support the family, and local schools and officials are offering support.
