Oakland County grapples with a 42-inch water main break, triggering advisories and closures

A 42-inch transmission water main break at River Woods Park in Auburn Hills has disrupted water service to about 10,000 customers across Orion Township, Auburn Hills, and the Village of Orion. A Boil Water Advisory is in effect for parts of Auburn Hills with an emergency water-use order citywide. Three drinking water stations have been opened and Lake Orion Community Schools are closed for Monday and Tuesday. Officials warn recovery could take up to two weeks as investigators probe the 1975-era line and water towers continue to drain. Governor Whitmer is coordinating with local leaders on the response.
