One dead after CMPD pursuit near Uptown Charlotte

A 2:25 p.m. Friday shooting near Lasalle Street and Newland Road in Lincoln Heights, just north of Uptown Charlotte, left one person dead after CMPD officers chased a suspect who allegedly pulled a gun. Police say they issued commands, the suspect fled on foot, and officers fired after perceiving an imminent threat. The victim was taken to a hospital where they died; no officers were injured and a weapon was recovered. The deceased’s identity had not been released at the time of reporting; the incident began with a 911 disturbance call.
