Three Dead, Including 6-Year-Old, After I-85 Crash in Granville County

Three people, including a 6-year-old from Charlotte, were killed when a northbound Toyota Highlander failed to slow at an earlier crash scene on I-85 near the Durham County line, hitting a Providence Fire Department truck blocking the roadway and pushing it into a nearby pickup; a 10-year-old boy was flown to Duke University Hospital with serious injuries. The northbound lanes near Exit 191 were closed for more than six hours as investigators work to determine the cause.
