Weather Forces Postponement of Atlanta's I-285 Weekend Closure

Georgia DOT postponed the planned weekend full closure of I-285 on Atlanta's west side (Exits 7 to 9) due to weather. The originally scheduled closure would have shut all northbound and southbound lanes from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday as part of the I-285 Westside reconstruction. Detours would route drivers via Langford Parkway to I-75/I-85 and I-20, with re-entry at Exit 9 for northbound travel or the reverse for southbound travel. GDOT warned of extreme delays, urged travelers to consider alternate routes, and advised checking real-time traffic (511GA) as the project is likely to be rescheduled.
