Heavy rains caused flash flooding in parts of New York, resulting in at least one death. Rensselaer County and the Hudson Valley were the most affected areas, with multiple water rescues and impassable roads. Governor Kathy Hochul intends to declare a state of emergency in Orange County, where major arteries were washed out. Flash flood emergencies were issued for stretches of the state, and additional rainfall and flooding were expected overnight.
