Tragic Alaska Landslide Claims Lives of 5 Family Members and Fisherman Neighbor

Five family members and their neighbor, a commercial fisherman, have been identified as dead or missing in a devastating landslide in southeast Alaska. The family of five, Timothy and Beth Heller and their children Mara, Derek, and Kara, were at home when the landslide struck near Wrangell. The bodies of the parents and the oldest child have been found, while the younger children and their neighbor, Otto Florschutz, remain missing. Florschutz, who previously ran for a congressional seat, received 193 votes in the election. The landslide has cut off access to 54 homes, and search and rescue efforts are ongoing.
