Australia's Wong Urges Swift Resolution in Julian Assange Case

Wong stated that the Australian government has made it clear that Assange's case has dragged on for too long and needs to be concluded. While representations have been made on his behalf, Wong emphasized that the Australian government is not a party to the legal proceedings and cannot intervene. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken acknowledged the sensitivity of the issue and highlighted the serious criminal charges Assange faces in connection with the release of classified information. Australia is supporting efforts for Assange's release ahead of potential extradition to the U.S.
