Biden Takes Executive Action to Expand Access to Contraception and Abortion Care.

President Joe Biden signed an executive order to expand access to all FDA-approved contraceptives, including those that induce abortions, in an effort to increase access to contraceptives over the counter, reduce costs, and increase access for veterans and students. The order directs agencies to consider guidelines that would ensure private health insurance companies cover all FDA-approved contraceptives without cost sharing, streamline the process for women seeking these products, and research additional ways to expand access to contraceptives. This is the third executive order on reproductive health care access that the president has signed since the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
