Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has threatened to veto the state budget unless his priorities, including a school choice scholarship program, school safety measures, and repealing a portion of Democrat-backed criminal justice reform laws, are passed. Democratic legislative leaders have said they will not pass any significant bills until the budget is approved. If a state budget is not approved by June 5, lawmakers could be forced into a special session to fund the state government by July 1. The two sides have notably clashed over differing proposals for state employee pay and K-12 spending.
